About

This year 2011-12 I am lucky enough to be employed as a consultant by North Yorkshire LA (on a very part-time basis) .  This is the rubric that has gone out with the introductory letter:

“Chris Sharples has been Head of ICT at Lady Lumley’s school for just over seven years. During this time he has worked on a simple objective:

“Competent and confident students focussed on effective collaborative learning enabled by information and collaboration technologies that are simple to use, and work at home and at school”.

Chris has fantastic experience in supporting and enthusing students to develop the right attitudes and skills for learning collaboratively using ICT. He has given talks at BETT about success with Edexcel’s DiDA course and is known within the region for talking and blogging about developing platforms to extend learning. Chris has helped shape an outstanding A-level course at LLS and is currently supporting his AQA Applied ICT Y13 team with their EC-Collaboration project.    This involves pairing all LLS Year 7 students with their Chinese partner school counterparts using a variety of ICTs with the help of the Y13s. (See the Blog).

The Year 9s are supplementing their bespoke KS3 multimedia scheme of work with a new Digital Leaders’ programme.  They are combining aspects of the Sports Leaders programme with the Duke of Edinbrough scheme for developing their leadership and ICT skills as
Digital Leaders.

Previously, Chris has taught in two secondary schools and worked as ICT Development Officer for City of York Council.”

I am currently working locally with:
(Primary)
Susan Laycock, ICT Coordinator at Richmond Methodist Primary School
Nathan Wrigley, ICT Coordinator at Lindhead Primary School
Yvonne Methley (York ICT Consultant)  meths7.
(Secondary)
Carole Walton, King James School, Knaresborough

If any more Colleagues from North Yorkshire Schools would like to get in touch then pls contact me via North Yorkshire ICT in Education and info here.

    Chris,

Would it possible sometime soon to come out on a Monday afternoon and see some of the Gamemaker work your students have been doing?

    Many thanks

    Anthony
